Lost Worlds: Boreas, the Cold Death

Last modified by Lauren Linvog on 2023/08/14 21:28

Everyone's favorite mecha survival show makes it's way to the most extreme location yet - Boreas. One of the lost worlds, Boreas was never terraformed enough for human habitation, even by splicers. But with a developed (weather) system, oceans stocked with fish, and a unique population of flora, game, and mega-fauna, it's not impossible. These icy oceans, endless tundra, and howling winds will make perfect challenge for our survival experts. This season the contestants will be asked to persist for (), gathering once each () for a meeting and fuel drop. At any of these meetings, the group can vote to abandon the contest and walk home with a portion of the prize. But only the last one standing will have a chance to take the full pot - or the planet itself! It's our biggest prize yet, and in a competition where nothing is off limits, there's no way of knowing what our survivalists will do to win it all. Boreas: the Cold Death. (airs Saturdays, 7-8 central)

Synopsis

Round 1

The contestants are dropped with their mechs and their limited supplies on the planet's surface. The group grabs their fuel allotment, and the game begins.

The contestants spread out, trying to eke out a piece of territory for themselves. Rarie struggles to find food. Mallory tries to befriend her, and the two most combat-ready players form an uneasy alliance. Moss makes a serendipitous discovery, and manages to take down a giant Moose, securing her food situation. Ainsley?? Mads??

The group receives the location of the next fuel drop, and converges. The option of surrender is quickly turned down, and they split once again. As Moss is leaving, she is jumped by Rarie. Moss narrowly doges and escapes into a narrow ice crevasse. As she flees through the forest, Moss is targeted again by Mallorie, but never knows it - Mallorie's shot turns out to be a confetti canister, which explodes harmlessly. Ainsley decides that Rarie is a threat and (?? might not have gotten to attack before I was killed?). Moss isn't risking being a target next round, and lets Rarie catch another glimpse of her before heading out onto an ice sheet. Rarie follows, and reacts too slow when she realizes that Moss has lured her onto ice too thin for her class 3 mech. Rarie falls into a crevasse and is forced to tap out.

Round 2

Everyone is on their own once again

Mallory hears their favorite song on repeat. She follows the signal and discovers an area that is seemingly being protected by several mega-fauna. They see a blue light coming from a cave, flickering to the rythm of their song. Unwilling to engage with the animals, they don't investigate further.

Moss comes across some sort of structure under an ice sheet.

Developments and Implications

The Lost Worlds are known to have some sort of sleeping technology on them, likely left by the Citawhego, but there is no proof of what it is.
This encounter was caught on camera and may be found in the future.
