The party revels in their new-found freedom. They attempt to return a favor but mostly end up buying a very expensive melon.

Synopsis

The party gets  a call from some old friends - Kei and Yuri, who were promised a favor during Joust, are cashing in. Kei and Yuri have been hired by the Bureau of Intersidereal Larceny Investigations to track down and capture famed thief Lou Yang. There has been a tip off that the thief is planning to steal items being auctioned at the Precipe, a casino and auction house built off of the frozen rim of the structure. The party gets dressed up and head for the location.

Their first obstacle is the door. There is a minimum buy here, and Kei and Yuri are nowhere to be seen to help them out. Care pulls out his name, as well as one of his parents credit cards that he had stashed away for a rainy day, and they are allowed in. They find their employers and are briefed on the situation - the thief's MO is mysterious, and their appearance is unknown. The party will have to do their best to scout out possible weak points and collect information from the people there.

They attempt this in different ways. Truth talks to some strange looking patrons. They are a small group, covered in body mods. They tell Truth that they are from off structure to buy something special. Billi chats with some other patrons but doesn't learn much. Care hacks into the security system to get eyes on the entire facility, but can't spot anything out of the ordinary.  (more things they try)

To keep up their cover, they are pressured to bid in the auction. The following items are being auctioned:

A large ornate box

An intricately decorated box of Arjun make

A large, ancient oil painting titled Man Skin's Eel

An Ornate Arjun Sword

A Rust light which appears to be bioluminescent moss trapped in an elaborate cage of rusted metal

A sealed data drive

A very old wine bottle

A melon

Something covered by a cloth described as a "song"

Many members of the crowd seem interested in the strange box, but the party is enchanted by a melon, whose special qualities are unknown. They bid for it several times. The auction proceeds but the party spots no traces of criminal activity.

Finally, the box comes up for bidding. Things proceed normally, but suddenly the power cuts and someone makes a run on the auction podium where the box is displayed. A fight ensues -
